ANEVOLVE would like to lead in EV technology, says MD Sunil Kaul

ANEVOLVE, the EV venture of Tier-1 major Anand Group, is eyeing technology leadership in the electric vehicle segment in India. The company, which has already forayed into EV drivetrain components such as motors, controllers, and DC-DC convertors, under its joint venture - Anand Mando E-Mobility (AMeM), for the electric two- and three-wheeler segments, is now eyeing the four-wheeler category.

ANEVOLVE is gearing up to produce 3-in-1 modules for buses and cars, also looking at DC fast chargers as a growth-oriented product category. The company is optimistic about the potential of its four-wheeler EDU slated for launch soon.

While its locally designed and manufactured components boast high levels of localised material sourcing, ANEVOLVE aims to keep an upper hand in technology. At its technology development centre in Gurugram, the company is undertaking design and development activities, and while it remains open to collaborations with startups from the UK, Israel, and Europe, it aims to lead technology development.

According to Sunil Kaul, Managing Director, ANEVOLVE, "While in earlier days, we would consider Europe to be ahead of us when it came to technology, now, we will lead the technology and not be No. 2. The partnership, however, will help us initiate a new technology and go to market faster."

"We will invest in technology and spend more money to innovate for the Indian market, which is extremely complex when it comes to the operating conditions." Kaul also mentions that the company is eyeing exports of made-in-India EV components.

"If one is good for India, they are good for the world. Indian conditions are the hardest and Indian customers seek value. We have a great opportunity to tap into that demand, either independently or through a partner," he points out, in this video.
