ZELIO Ebikes, a prominent player in India's electric vehicle sector, today unveiled its latest offering, the X-MEN 2.0, marking a significant upgrade to its popular X-MEN series. The new model aims to offer enhanced features and improved efficiency.
The X-MEN 2.0 comes in four variants, offering both Lead Acid and Lithium-Ion battery options. The Lead Acid variants are priced at Rs 71,500 for the 60V 32AH model and Rs 74,000 for the 72V 32AH model. The more advanced Lithium-Ion variants are available at Rs 87,500 for the 60V 30AH model and Rs 91,500 for the 74V 32AH model.
Designed for urban mobility, the X-MEN 2.0 delivers a top speed of 25 km/h and a range of up to 100 kilometers on a single charge. The scooter's energy efficiency is notable, consuming only 1.5 units of electricity per charge. With a robust build supporting a gross weight of 90 kg and a loading capacity of 180 kg, it's tailored for daily commuting needs.

"The X-MEN 2.0 represents our commitment to delivering a perfect balance of performance, affordability, and technology."
The scooter boasts of features such as front and rear disc brakes, alloy wheels, and a hub motor. Comfort is ensured through front telescopic and rear spring-loaded shock absorbers. Modern conveniences such as an anti-theft alarm, central locking, reverse gear, and USB charging capability come standard, along with a digital display.
ZELIO Ebikes backs the X-MEN 2.0 with a comprehensive one-year or 10,000-kilometer warranty for both battery variants. The scooter is available in four colors: Green, White, Silver, and Red.
Since its establishment in 2021, ZELIO has rapidly expanded its presence in the Indian market, building a network of over 256 dealerships and serving more than 200,000 customers. The company has ambitious plans to expand to 400 dealerships by March 2025, reinforcing its position in India's growing electric vehicle market.
The launch of X-MEN 2.0 comes at a time when India's electric vehicle market is experiencing significant growth, driven by increasing environmental awareness and government initiatives promoting sustainable transportation. ZELIO's latest offering appears well-positioned to capitalize on this trend, offering an attractive combination of features, performance, and value for urban commuters.

In India, electric two-wheelers are classified into two distinct categories based on their speed capabilities. Low-speed electric two-wheelers, which have a maximum speed of 25 km/h, enjoy significant regulatory advantages. These vehicles are exempt from the stringent requirements of type approval, registration, and driving license under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR). This regulatory relaxation has made them particularly attractive to manufacturers and consumers alike, especially for short urban commutes.
In contrast, high-speed electric two-wheelers, which can exceed 25 km/h, are subject to comprehensive regulation. They require type approval from authorized testing agencies, mandatory registration with Regional Transport Offices (RTO), and riders must possess a valid driving license. These vehicles also need to comply with additional safety standards including AIS-156 battery safety norms.
The different regulatory treatment has led to a distinct market segmentation. Low-speed models dominate the entry-level segment, appealing to cost-conscious consumers and those seeking hassle-free ownership. High-speed models, while facing stricter regulations, cater to users requiring longer range and better performance, typically competing more directly with traditional petrol scooters in terms of capabilities and use cases. This dual approach has helped foster rapid EV adoption while maintaining safety standards for more powerful vehicles.
