Ultraviolette Ventures Beyond Performance Bikes; Unveils Scooter, Light Motorcycle

Ultraviolette Automotive, a specialist in electric performance motorcycles, entered two new categories with its latest models -- electric scooter Tesseract, starting at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.45 lakh, and light electric motorcycle Shockwave, starting at Rs 1.75 lakh.

The company will offer special prices for the first 1,000 buyers of both models. Under this, Tesseract is available at Rs 1.20 lakh while Shockwave is available at Rs 1.5 lakh. The bookings commenced today and deliveries are expected to start from the first quarter of 2026.

The Bengaluru-based startup, which bagged the record of fastest electric motorcycle brand on India with its F99 prototype, currently has only one model F77 -- with two varaints priced over Rs 3 lakh. Ultraviolette has so far been a niche player focused on premium high performance products.

Tesseract is an urban commuter scooter comes with an IDC range of 261 km and has a top speed of 125 kmph. It can manage the 0-60kph sprint in 2.9 seconds. The model boasts of several advanced features such as front and rear radar tech, dash camera, handle bar with haptic feedback for collision warning etc as well as 34-ltr boot space.

Shockwave,  on the other hand, is a 'fun adventure motorcycle' that weighs 120kg and has a peak output of 14.7hp and 505Nm. It claims a top speed of 120kph and can manage the 0-60kph in 2.9 seconds. It comes with an IDC range of 165km.

Ultraviolette is present in 13 cities in India, while it has started exports to Germany, Italy and France. The company has rapid expansion plans in the domestic market as it enters the mass market. For export market, it has cleared the homologation for F77 in Europe.

Electrification in India has so far been driven by scooters with prices mostly under Rs 1.5 lakh. Bajaj Auto, Ola Electric, TVS Motor and Ather Energy after the major players in this segment. Currently the penetration of electric vehicles in the scooter segment is 13-14%.

In contrast, the electric motorcycle segment is yet to see significant traction in India with limited offerings from a few startups.

Meanwhile, India's largest electric two-wheeler maker, Ola Electric, is planning to roll out its first electric motorcycle Roadster this month, while Ather Energy is working on a platform named Zenith to come out with electric motorcycles targeting the 125-300 cc segments users.

Among traditional players, Royal Enfield has already announced its plans to enter the electric motorcycle space with Flying Flea brand while Hero MotorCorp is set to introduce electric motorcycle mostly from 2026.
