Toyota Kirloskar Motor registers 14% growth in September 2024

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has continued its upward sales trend with a 14% increase in wholesale figures for September 2024 compared to the same period last year.

The company sold a total of 26,847 units during the month, comprising 23,802 domestic sales and 3,045 exports. In September 2023, TKM sold 23,590 units.

In the first six months of the 2024-2025 financial year, TKM achieved a significant milestone with 162,623 vehicles delivered, marking its best-ever performance in India. This represents a substantial increase from the 123,939 units sold in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.

Commenting on the strong sales results, Sabari Manohar, Vice President of Sales, Service, and Used Car Business at TKM, noted the increasing festive momentum. He highlighted the growing footfall and customer enquiries, which have positioned the company for a strong festive season. Manohar attributed much of the recent growth to strong performances in the SUV, MPV, and small car segments, which together accounted for more than 90% of September’s sales.

To meet rising demand, TKM has introduced a third shift in production, which has optimised the supply chain and reduced waiting times for high-demand models. Additionally, the company has implemented various customer-focused initiatives, including the 555 Plus programme, offering extended warranties, free services, roadside assistance, and attractive exchange offers on key models. The introduction of TCare, which consolidates multiple value chain offerings into a single brand, has also improved customer convenience.

With 1,045 customer touchpoints across India and a diverse product portfolio, TKM is well-positioned to cater to a broad range of consumer needs, from lifestyle-driven choices to family mobility solutions. Manohar expressed optimism for the upcoming festive season, driven by these strategic initiatives and the company’s efforts to enhance customer experience.

TKM operates two manufacturing plants in Bidadi, Karnataka, with a total installed production capacity of up to 342,000 units annually. The first plant, established in 1997, produces models such as the Innova HyCross, Innova Crysta, Fortuner, and Legender, with a capacity of 132,000 units. The second plant, which began operations in 2010, produces the Camry Hybrid, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Hilux, with a capacity of up to 210,000 units.

The company, which is a joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan and Kirloskar Systems Limited of India, continues to play a significant role in the Indian automotive market.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor forayed into the used car business in 2022 with the inauguration of its first facility in Bangalore in 2022, which made TKM the first auto manufacturer in India to offer fully OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer).
