The project has been featured in the WEF's report titled "Using a People-Positive Approach to Accelerate the Scale-up of Clean Power: A C-Suite Guide for Community Engagement." The report, unveiled at the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), underscores the importance of a people-positive approach in expediting the transition to clean power.
The WEF report emphasises the need for community involvement to ensure that the shift towards sustainable energy benefits all stakeholders, aligning with Tata Power's commitment to sustainable development in rural India. The TP Renewable Microgrid initiative, highlighted as a case study in the white paper, exemplifies Tata Power's success in fostering cross-sectoral collaboration and community engagement.
TPRMG has played a pivotal role in providing clean electricity to rural India, commissioning renewable microgrids in 200 villages in northwest India and impacting approximately 300,000 lives. Serving around 21,000 consumers, these microgrids have contributed to significant environmental benefits by saving over 3 million liters of diesel and reducing more than 8,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually.
