Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has secured an additional order for 148 electric buses from the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). The supply, operation, and maintenance of the Tata Starbus EV12-metre low-floor electric buses will be managed by TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Motors, over a 12-year period.
This new order builds upon a previous order for 921 electric buses, most of which have already been delivered and are currently operating with an uptime of over 95% under BMTC’s fleet. The Tata Starbus EV, known for its superior design and advanced features, promises a sustainable and comfortable commuting experience for Bengaluru’s citizens. Built on next-generation architecture and equipped with advanced battery systems, the buses ensure safe, efficient, and convenient intra-city travel.

Tata Motors’ e-buses have already achieved a cumulative distance of over 2.5 crore kilometers in Bengaluru alone, resulting in a significant reduction of approximately 14,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
