The homegrown carmaker will be adding two EVs to its line-up – one of them sitting in the fiercely competitive midsize SUV segment – and also launch the Altroz facelift. Read on for more details.

Squarely aimed to take on the Citroen eC3, the Punch EV is likely to be better equipped than its petrol counterpart with features like LED headlamps and a sunroof, and safety features like all-wheel disc brakes. It’ll also have some unique design elements to help differentiate it from the ICE Punch. Although the Punch EV will be similar to its petrol-powered counterpart on the inside, the EV’s cabin may feature the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen and steering with the illuminated logo as seen on the new Nexon. Although Tata has yet to reveal technical specs for the battery and motors, the company could offer multiple options to appeal to a wider audience.

Tata’s SUV-coupe, the Curvv, is scheduled to arrive mid-next year, and it’ll launch as an EV first. Details of this powertrain have not yet been revealed, but Tata has said it’ll come with a range of about 400-500km on a single charge, and have a dual-motor set up simulating all-wheel drive. A petrol version of the Curvv will arrive soon after, and it’ll be powered by Tata’s new 1.2-litre TGDi turbocharged mill, which is said to produce 125hp and 225Nm of peak torque. Expect manual and automatic gearbox options for the Curvv petrol.
What will make the Curvv unique in the midsize SUV segment is the sloping roofline, which is neatly integrated into its notchback-styled boot. It also has a bold shoulder line, chunky wheel arches and thick body cladding, which adds a dose of ruggedness. The Curvv’s cabin is likely to feature a digital driver’s screen, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment, a touch-operable climate control cluster as well as a 360-degree camera and a sunroof.
Meant to appeal to those looking for a standout offering without sacrificing the practicality of an SUV – high ground clearance and a raised seating position – the Curvv will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and Honda Elevate. Interestingly, there’ll be another high-riding car with a swoopy roofline coming to India soon, the Citroen C3X, but it’ll be priced lower than the Curvv and come with a shorter equipment list.
The carmaker is betting big on its SUV-coupe, and Tata aims to sell about 12,000 units of the Curvv EV and 36,000 units of the petrol Curvv by the end of 2024.

The Tata Harrier EV is expected to be the brand’s sixth all-electric model, and the first EV to be based on the Harrier’s Omega architecture – it has been heavily re-engineered so that the Land Rover-derived platform can be electrified. We expect the Harrier EV to get a 60kWh battery pack that’ll power two motors – one on each axle to simulate AWD – and have a range of about 400-500km. Other than minor changes to distinguish it as the EV, the all-electric Harrier will look similar to the recently launched Harrier facelift. The list of features should also be the same as the facelift – ADAS tech, a 360-degree camera, ventilated seats and a panoramic sunroof.

Engine: 1.2-litre petrol, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol
Tata’s premium hatchback is set to get its first major update next year. Competition like the Hyundai i20 and Maruti Suzuki Baleno have taken the game forward, and now it’s Tata’s turn to refresh the Altroz. Along with some design changes to bring the Altroz in line with newer Tata cars, the premium hatch will also get tweaks to the interior to keep it fresh. New features expected include the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, six airbags, wireless charging and an air purifier, all of which was seen on the Tata Altroz Racer.
Unfortunately, there's been no word if the Altroz facelift will sport the Altroz Racer’s more powerful 120hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine or the new 125hp, 1.2-litre direct injection turbo-petrol engine that will make its debut on the Curvv. The refreshed Tata Altroz is likely to continue with the current model’s 88hp, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and the 110hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. The former is likely to retain the 5-speed manual and 6-speed dual-clutch automatic options, while the latter should have just the 5-speed manual gearbox.
