Tata Motors, Amazon Partner to Deploy 3,000 Electric Trucks
The e-commerce giant expands its middle-mile fleet electrification with plans to cover the 2,800-km Delhi-Bengaluru-Chennai freight corridor.
Amazon has partnered with Tata Motors to deploy 3,000 electric trucks across its transportation and logistics network in India.
Under the arrangement, Tata Motors will supply light- and medium-duty electric trucks, including the Tata Ultra E.7 model, while Amazon’s carrier partners will own and operate the vehicles.
The initial fleet deployment began in Delhi during the festive season, with subsequent phases targeting the 2,800-km Delhi-Bengaluru-Chennai freight corridor along National Highway 48. Charging infrastructure for the fleet is being set up in partnership with provider Yahhvi.
Rajesh Kaul, Vice President and Business Head for Trucks at Tata Motors, stated, "Working with Amazon India, we are going beyond vehicle deployment to provide charging infrastructure, servicing and operational support."
