Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL) has announced record annual sales of 12.56 lakh units for the financial year 2024-25, marking an 11% growth compared to the previous year. The two-wheeler subsidiary of Japan's Suzuki Motor Corporation achieved domestic sales of 10.45 lakh units, up 14% from FY2023-24.
The company registered its highest-ever monthly sales in March 2025, selling 1.25 lakh units, a 21% increase from March 2024. Domestic sales for the month reached 1.05 lakh units, growing 23% year-on-year, while exports totaled 20,194 units.
"Our sales have doubled in just four years," said Mr. Mitsumoto Watabe, Operation Manager for Sales & After Sales at SMIPL. He attributed the growth to customer trust and initiatives such as the launch of the new Suzuki Access scooter, along with customer engagement events including Suzuki Matsuri and regional mileage contests.
During FY2024-25, SMIPL expanded its product lineup with the all-new Access scooter and the GIXXER SF 250 Flex Fuel motorcycle. The company also showcased its upcoming electric scooter, e-ACCESS, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, signaling its entry into the electric mobility segment.
The company updated its entire domestic product range to comply with OBD-2B emission norms, aligning with regulatory requirements in the Indian market.
SMIPL began its operations in India in February 2006 with a manufacturing plant in Gurugram, Haryana. The facility has an annual production capacity of 1.3 million units, producing 125cc scooters and premium motorcycles of 150cc and above.
The Indian two-wheeler market has shown robust recovery following pandemic-related disruptions, with major manufacturers reporting growth in sales figures. The sector is currently witnessing increased competition in the electric vehicle segment as traditional manufacturers introduce battery-powered alternatives to conventional internal combustion engine models.
Industry analysts note that Suzuki's planned entry into the electric scooter market with its e-ACCESS model, featuring LFP battery technology, comes at a time when the electric two-wheeler segment in India is gaining momentum, driven by government incentives and growing environmental awareness among consumers.
