Park+, an app for car owners with a user base of 1.5 crore cars in India, conducted a survey of 500 electric vehicle (EV) car owners in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, and Bangalore. The survey aimed to understand the experiences and perspectives of current EV car owners. According to data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), approximately 91,000 electric passenger vehicles were sold in India during the 2023-24 financial year.
The survey revealed that 88% of respondents reported experiencing charging anxiety, citing challenges in finding accessible, safe, and functional charging stations despite the presence of over 20,000 EV charging stations in India. Additionally, 73% of EV car owners expressed uncertainty about maintenance costs, noting difficulties in understanding their vehicles' systems and obtaining clear information on repair costs.
Resale value was a concern for some respondents, with 33% reporting lower-than-expected quotes when casually checking their EV's resale value. The survey also found that 51% of four-wheeler EV owners indicated they might not purchase another EV for their next vehicle.
Among current EV models, the TATA Nexon EV (61%) and TATA Punch EV (19%) were the most popular choices among survey respondents.
