Steelbird Launches SBH-64 ZIP RF Helmet with Practical Design and Safety Features

Steelbird Helmets has launched its latest product, the SBH-64 ZIP RF, a half-face helmet that focuses on utility, comfort, and safety for urban commuters.

The SBH-64 ZIP RF comes equipped with a rear aerodynamic spoiler, giving the helmet a streamlined appearance. Although classified as a half-face model, it features an extended polycarbonate visor intended to provide broader facial coverage while maintaining airflow, which could benefit daily city riders.

To improve rider comfort, the helmet includes a neck pad and interiors made from multipored, breathable, and washable materials sourced from Italy. It also incorporates a quick-release buckle system for easier handling during routine commutes and a rear reflector to help enhance rider visibility in low-light conditions.

Speaking on the launch, Rajeev Kapur, Managing Director of Steelbird Helmets, said the company remains focused on improving rider safety while addressing design and comfort aspects in its offerings.

Certified under BIS (IS 4151:2015) standards, the SBH-64 ZIP RF is built with a high-impact ABS shell and a multi-layer EPS core to aid in impact absorption. The helmet is available in more than ten color options and comes in sizes M (580mm), L (600mm), and XL (620mm).

Priced from ₹999, the new helmet is positioned as an affordable option for riders looking for essential protection with user-friendly features.

Steelbird Helmets is one of the established helmet manufacturers in India, known for producing a wide range of two-wheeler helmets designed to meet safety, comfort, and design preferences of Indian riders. Founded in 1964, the company has built a presence in the domestic market through its extensive product lineup, manufacturing capabilities, and BIS-certified safety offerings. Steelbird caters to diverse consumer segments, offering full-face, half-face, open-face, modular, and off-road helmets.

The company operates one of the largest helmet manufacturing facilities in Asia, located in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. With a focus on domestic demand as well as exports, Steelbird combines in-house research and development with collaborations involving international design inputs, especially from Italy. This has contributed to the development of helmet interiors that are breathable, multipored, and washable, as seen in recent launches.

Steelbird helmets are available in various sizes and colors, and they typically include features such as high-impact ABS shells, multi-layer EPS cores for improved shock absorption, and practical elements like quick-release buckles and visors with UV protection. The brand also offers accessories and riding gear, expanding its portfolio within the two-wheeler safety ecosystem.

In recent years, Steelbird has introduced models tailored for urban riders, such as the SBH-64 ZIP RF, which includes a compact half-face design, extended visor for improved coverage, and added features like neck pads and rear reflectors. Priced affordably, such models aim to balance utility with design preferences common among city commuters.
