Minda Corporation, the flagship company of Spark Minda has entered into a technical collaboration with Korea's Daesung Eltec - a leading player of automotive electronics specialising in in-vehicle infotainment systems, ADAS, audio, AMP, monitor among others.
The Indian Tier 1 major aims to bring next-generation advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) solutions to its customers in the Indian market. The two companies inked a Technology License and Assistance Agreement (TLA) on October 28, 2022.
As part of the association, Daesung Eltec will support Spark Minda with product design, development and validation and will also play a key role in the process design, validation and manufacturing line set up for ADAS systems for passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and off-road vehicles.
The partnership augments Spark Minda's position in the Indian market by putting it ahead of the technology curve by providing localised ADAS solutions for the country.
While presently only premium cars in India from luxury brands such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo come equipped with ADAS features, a large number of mainstream players such as MG Motor India, Hyundai Motor India and Mahindra & Mahindra are increasingly offering ADAS functions such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist and rear cross-traffic alert in vehicles like the MG Astor, MG Gloster, Hyundai Tucson and Mahindra XUV700.
According to Aakash Minda, Executive Director, Minda Corporation, “ADAS is a critical, futuristic technology with early signs of its adoption already visible in the Indian market. Current estimates from leading car manufacturers project that ADAS features relating to autonomous driving will become near ubiquitous in the next few years.
