RSB transmissions secures investment from Bain Capital to Drive Global Expansion and M&A Strategy

RSB Transmissions, a manufacturer in the automotive, construction, and equipment systems sectors, has announced a strategic investment from Bain Capital, a global private investment firm. The investment will support RSB’s plans for growth, focusing on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and expanding its global operations, the company claims.

Founded in 1973 by R.K. Behera and S.K. Behera, RSB has grown from its base in Jamshedpur to become a supplier for commercial vehicles, passenger cars, and construction equipment worldwide. The company operates 16 manufacturing facilities in India, along with a plant in Mexico, and serves major Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) such as Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Daimler, Mahindra & Mahindra, and construction companies like CAT, Tata Hitachi, JCB, and Komatsu.

Speaking about the investment, R.K. Behera, Founder of RSB Transmissions, said, "As we mark 50 years in the industry, this partnership with Bain Capital represents a new phase of growth for RSB. We have built a solid foundation over the years, and Bain Capital’s expertise and resources will help us pursue new opportunities and strengthen our position as a global player."

S.K. Behera, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of RSB, added, "This partnership aligns with our vision for the future. Bain Capital’s industry knowledge and global network will support our efforts to explore new markets, foster innovation, and continue providing value to our customers."

Bain Capital’s investment will provide financial and strategic backing to RSB Transmissions as it focuses on expanding globally and exploring opportunities in emerging markets. With Bain Capital’s experience in the automotive and industrial sectors, RSB aims to enhance its global presence and pursue growth opportunities.

Pawan Singh, Partner at Bain Capital, stated, "RSB has earned a reputation for quality engineering and long-term customer relationships. We are excited to collaborate with the Behera family and RSB’s management to help the company grow and become a more diversified global platform."

This strategic partnership comes at a key moment for RSB as it focuses on global expansion, improving technological capabilities, and seeking new opportunities in emerging markets.
