Royal Enfield has announced a technology partnership with Qualcomm Technologies to integrate the Snapdragon QWM2290 system-on-chip (SoC) and Snapdragon Car-to-Cloud Platform into the upcoming Flying Flea electric motorcycles.
The Snapdragon QWM2290 SoC will power the FFC6, providing advanced connected solutions and an integrated cluster interface. This makes Flying Flea one of the first 2-wheeler platforms to incorporate connected services technology through the Snapdragon Car-to-Cloud platform.
Commenting on the collaboration, Mario Alvisi, Chief Growth Officer for Electric Vehicles at Royal Enfield, said, “Flying Flea embodies a new vision for Royal Enfield, focusing on groundbreaking technology, authentic design, and modern innovation. The Snapdragon QWM2290 SoC, specifically designed for 2-wheelers, powers the core vehicle control unit and runs an in-house operating system developed by Flying Flea. This system enables comprehensive management of the motorcycle’s functions and provides a seamless experience through the interactive true round TFT cluster.
Through Snapdragon Car-to-Cloud, Flying Flea ensures secure, multi-modal communication between the rider and the motorcycle, supported by 4G, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi connectivity. The system includes an intuitive user interface with a dedicated Voice Assist button, along with customizable ride modes and the ability to use a mobile phone as a smart key for unlocking and starting the vehicle.
