Renault has posted a global sales increase of 6.5% for the first quarter of 2025, delivering 389,016 vehicles worldwide. The growth is attributed largely to strong passenger car sales in Europe, where the company recorded a 17.7% increase, outperforming a slightly contracting market.
In Europe, Renault captured a 5.6% market share in passenger cars—up by 0.9 percentage points from the previous year. Key markets like Spain (+38.4%), Germany (+20.9%), and the UK (+9.2%) contributed significantly to the brand’s growth. The popularity of hybrid and electric vehicles played a crucial role in Renault's performance. Sales of electric vehicles surged by 87.9%, while hybrid sales climbed 46.1%, both outpacing broader market trends. Notably, the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric became the best-selling EV in the B-segment across Europe, achieving 17,000 units sold in Q1 alone.
Renault’s hybrid range now represents 44.2% of its European passenger car sales, helping the brand secure the #2 position in the European hybrid market. Additionally, the company has achieved an average CO₂ emission of 94.9g/km in Europe—a year-on-year reduction of 11.4 grams.
Light commercial vehicles (LCVs), however, faced a tougher environment. Renault’s LCV sales in Europe dropped 25.5% to 57,447 units in Q1. Despite this, the brand retained its #2 ranking in the European LCV market (excluding pickups), with a 13.6% market share. On a positive note, Renault LCV electric sales rose by 20.1%, with the Kangoo EV leading its segment.
Outside Europe, Renault saw an 11.6% increase in vehicle sales, driven by a 21.1% rise in Latin America, 147.6% growth in South Korea, and 45.5% growth in Morocco. In South Korea, the Grand Koleos was a major contributor with over 11,000 units sold. Renault also maintained leading market positions in France, Morocco, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Colombia.
Looking ahead, Renault plans to extend its electric and hybrid lineup in Europe with the upcoming launches of the Renault 4 E-Tech electric, a restyled Austral and Espace, and new trims for the Megane. The Renault 5 E-Tech will also expand into additional markets, including the UK and Northern Europe. On the LCV front, a full rollout of the Master range is expected by the second half of the year, followed by the launch of a new all-electric utility lineup in 2026.
Renault’s international strategy will also see further vehicle launches and facelifts in key growth markets, as the company continues to align its global operations with evolving customer demand and sustainability goals.
