Renault expands CNG options with authorized retrofit kits, tapping into the growing demand for alternative fuel vehicles.

Renault India announced today the availability of government-approved CNG retrofitment kits for its entire range of vehicles - Kwid, Triber, and Kiger. The kits, priced at ₹79,500 for the Triber and Kiger models and ₹75,000 for the Kwid, will be available initially in five states before a nationwide rollout.

Renault India announced today the availability of government-approved CNG retrofitment kits for its entire range of vehicles - Kwid, Triber, and Kiger. The kits, priced at ₹79,500 for the Triber and Kiger models and ₹75,000 for the Kwid, will be available initially in five states before a nationwide rollout.
The CNG kits will be installed through preferred vendors using homologated equipment that meets safety and performance standards. Renault is offering a three-year warranty on the CNG retrofitment, which will be available for all variants except automatic and turbo models.
The initial launch covers Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, which represent 65% of the market. The company plans to expand availability across India in the coming months.
Venkatram M., Managing Director and Country CEO of Renault India, said the initiative aligns with the company's focus on providing eco-friendly mobility solutions. The standardized fitting process has been developed to maintain uniform quality across the dealer network.
This move comes as automakers in India are expanding their alternative fuel options amid rising fuel costs and increasing environmental concerns. The Indian government has been promoting CNG as an alternative fuel source, with the number of CNG stations in the country growing significantly over the past five years.
Renault India, a subsidiary of the French automotive group Renault, has been operating in India since 2005. The company's current portfolio includes the Kwid hatchback, Kiger compact SUV, and Triber MPV, which compete in the budget segment of the Indian automobile market.
The development follows the broader industry trend of manufacturers offering factory-fitted CNG options, though Renault has opted for an authorized retrofitment approach. The Indian automobile market has seen growing demand for CNG vehicles, particularly in regions with well-developed CNG infrastructure.
