Nissan Motor India has started exporting over 10,000 units of the Left-Hand Drive (LHD) New Nissan Magnite. The first shipment of nearly 2,900 units departed from Chennai’s Kamarajar Port (KPL - Ennore) to select markets in the LATAM region in January 2025. The second shipment of more than 7,100 units will be sent to the Middle East, North Africa, select LATAM and Asia Pacific markets in February 2025, bringing the total to over 10,000 units by the end of February.
The Nissan Magnite, launched in India in October 2024, is now being exported as part of Nissan’s 'One Car, One World' strategy. Manufactured at the Alliance JV plant in Chennai, the vehicle will be available in over 65 global markets, including LHD regions.
Frank Torres, Divisional Vice President of AMIEO Region Business Transformation & President of Nissan India Operations, said the export growth of the New Nissan Magnite marks an important achievement for Nissan Motor India. Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, also highlighted the company’s commitment to its ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ vision.
The New Nissan Magnite offers features such as a bold exterior design, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, six airbags, ABS, EBD, and a turbocharged 1.0-litre engine with manual and CVT transmission options.
Nissan’s export initiative strengthens India’s role as a key manufacturing hub. The company recently began exporting the Right-Hand Drive (RHD) version of the Magnite to South Africa, with over 2,700 units shipped within a month of its global launch. Since its debut in December 2020, the New Nissan Magnite has sold over 170,000 units globally.
Nissan Motor India, a subsidiary of Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. Japan, operates a manufacturing plant and R&D Centre in Chennai. The company, together with its Global Alliance partner Renault, has made a $1.8 billion investment in India, creating over 70,000 direct and indirect jobs.
