Mercedes Benz to launch eight new models in India this year
The company is also looking to revamp its retail network, with franchisee partners likely to invest Rs 450 crore in the showrooms in the next three years.
Mercedes-Benz India, the country’s largest luxury car maker, will launch eight new models in 2025 to sustain its sales momentum.
To cater to evolving customer preferences, these eight new models will include a higher share of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and top-end TEVs, which continue to outpace the mainstream luxury car market. The EV models have done better than the company’s expectation.
The company, whose sales cross the 19,000 mark for the first time in 2024, expects 2025 to be another year of record sales, but stopped short of guiding for double-digit growth.
Santosh Iyer, MD & CEO of Mercedes Benz India, told Autocar Professional said the potential for EV penetration to reach 10% was "very much in sight”.
Iyer said the company had 14 new introductions last year.
The company said it started 2025 with an order book of 2000 cars, with some of the EVs launched in Q4 of 2024 sold out till April.
Apart from expanding its portfolio, Mercedes-Benz aims to strengthen its presence in emerging markets in India by opening 20 new retail outlets in Agra, Kanpur, Jammu, and Patna. It said its franchise partners have committed over Rs 450 crore to upgrading the company’s retail network to align it with global luxury standards under the MAR20X format.
In line with its corporate social responsibility efforts, Mercedes-Benz has allocated Rs 7.5 crore for road safety initiatives. The funding will enhance safety measures on key highways, including the Samrudhhi Mahamarg and the Nizamabad Corridor, to reduce accidents and fatalities.
The company is also celebrating its 200,000-car milestone with a customer engagement campaign. Existing customers will be invited to exclusive events, while one new customer in the first quarter of 2025 will win an opportunity to attend the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.
Mercedes-Benz is also expanding its brand presence beyond vehicles. It has partnered with Tata Cliq Luxury to sell branded merchandise online under the ‘House of Mercedes-Benz’ banner, featuring apparel, accessories, and fragrances.
Furthermore, the company plans to launch the ‘Maybach Icons of Luxury’ collection, with a dedicated store opening in Bengaluru. This initiative aims to provide customers with immersive brand experiences and enhance their connection to the Mercedes-Benz name.
2025 Roadmap:
- Eight new product launches planned, focusing on BEVs and TEVs.
- Expansion into new markets with 20 additional retail outlets.
- ₹450 crore investment in retail transformation.
- Corporate Initiatives: ₹75 million allocated for road safety on key highways.
- Customer Engagement: Celebrating 200,000 cars with exclusive events and the chance to attend the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.
