The partnership will leverage the Startup India initiative to increase the reach and visibility of the program, encouraging greater participation from startups. Through this initiative, Mercedes-Benz India aims to support technological and economic growth while strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) operates under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and is responsible for formulating and implementing policies related to industrial development, foreign direct investment (FDI), intellectual property rights, and overall business regulatory framework in the country.
DPIIT plays a key role in promoting ease of doing business by streamlining regulations and facilitating a conducive environment for industries and startups. It oversees major initiatives such as Startup India, which supports entrepreneurs through funding, mentorship, and policy interventions. Additionally, it manages Make in India, an initiative aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing and attracting foreign investments.
The department is also involved in formulating industrial policies, including the promotion of sustainable business practices and innovation-driven industries. It regulates Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policies, ensuring transparency and ease of investment for international businesses in various sectors.
Furthermore, DPIIT works on intellectual property rights (IPR) protection by implementing initiatives such as the National IPR Policy, which enhances patent filing processes and enforcement mechanisms. Through various programs and policy frameworks, DPIIT contributes to economic growth by fostering a business-friendly ecosystem and supporting industrial and entrepreneurial development in India.
