MathWorks successfully concluded the MathWorks Automotive Conference 2024 in Pune, drawing over 700 industry professionals to explore the latest advancements in automotive technology, including software-defined vehicles, electrification, and AI-driven engineering solutions.
MathWorks, a global leader in mathematical computing software, hosted the conference to address the evolving challenges and opportunities within the automotive sector. Attendees included engineers, industry leaders, and researchers, all of whom engaged in discussions and demonstrations on topics like advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), software-defined vehicles (SDVs), virtual engineering, and the deployment of AI in mobility solutions.
The event was marked by a keynote speech from Jim Tung, MathWorks Fellow, titled “The Roadmap for Software-Defined Vehicles and Disruptive Technologies”. Tung emphasised how model-based approaches are reshaping the role of software in vehicles, leveraging cloud technology and generative AI through multi-vendor collaboration.
“Model-Based Design integrates mechanical, electrical, and control systems into a unified model to facilitate seamless collaboration across disciplines, enabling teams to simulate, test, and validate complex vehicle systems in a virtual environment,” Tung explained. “This not only speeds up development cycles but also improves the reliability and performance of the final product.” MathWorks is dedicated to advancing the future of SDVs, offering scalable software to tackle the complex challenges of modern vehicle design, he added.
The conference featured technical sessions led by MathWorks engineers and representatives from leading organisations like KPIT Technologies, Bosch, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Mercedes-Benz R&D India.
