Lohum has appointed Arun Mittal as the CEO, effective immediately. Mittal, who recently served at Exide Energy as the MD and CEO, brings nearly three decades of battery industry leadership.
He spearheaded Exide's lithium-ion technology initiatives for e-mobility applications and expanded the company's presence in Southeast Asia.
"I am committed to driving Lohum's vision of fostering material circularity and advancing energy sustainability through the next stage of its growth," Mittal said.
Mittal is a member of the ICAI (Institute of Company Secretaries of India), and ICMAI (The Institute of Cost Accountants of India).
The company has been on a growth path, and has laid out investment plans to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore to develop and manufacture next-gen 'Manganese-rich' LMFP Lithium-ion batteries over the next three years. It has also roped in Tesla veteran Chaitanya Sharma to work on the development of next-gen manganese-based lithium-ion batteries, earlier this year.
The Series B backed battery recycling, raw material refining, and battery repurposing firm has signed several agreements this year, with international companies to augment growth. LOHUM Cleantech Ltd has signed an MoU with ReElement Technologies Corporation and American Metals, to establish a fully integrated battery recycling, repurposing, and critical material production facility. It has also signed an EV battery Futures contract with Stride Green, and a black mass offtake agreement with UK-based Recyclus Group, a subsidiary of Technology Minerals. Under the terms of the agreement, Recyclus will sell black mass produced at its industrial-scale lithium-ion battery recycling facility in Wolverhampton, to Lohum's facility in India.
