Kinetic Group announced the completion of its battery manufacturing facility in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, with an annual production capacity of 60,000 battery packs. The Rs. 50 crore facility will produce Range-X branded batteries for two and three-wheeler electric vehicles, manufacturing both Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) variants.

Kinetic Group announced the completion of its battery manufacturing facility in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, with an annual production capacity of 60,000 battery packs. The Rs. 50 crore facility will produce Range-X branded batteries for two and three-wheeler electric vehicles, manufacturing both Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) variants.
The facility features automated production lines with IoT-enabled systems and stage-wise inspections, adhering to industry standards including AIS 156 and AIS 004. The company plans to supply batteries to OEMs beyond the Kinetic Group, positioning itself to serve India's growing EV market, which is projected to reach US$ 18.319 billion by 2029 at a CAGR of 28.52%.
The Range-X LFP batteries are designed with thermal runaway protection and smart Battery Management System (BMS) integration. The company states the batteries are manufactured using recyclable materials. The facility will also produce NMC batteries, focusing on high energy density and charge-discharge rates.
Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Kinetic Group, said the facility represents their commitment to self-reliance and sustainability in battery technology. The company is working on localizing the BMS development under the government's PLI schemes and PM E-drive Make in India initiative.
Kinetic Engineering Limited, the flagship company of the Kinetic Group, has been operating in the automotive sector for over five decades. The Ahmednagar manufacturing complex employs approximately 1,000 people across 32 manufacturing sheds and houses more than 400 machines. The company's client portfolio includes major automotive manufacturers such as Renault, TATA Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Ashok Leyland.
This expansion into EV battery manufacturing comes as India pushes for greater domestic manufacturing capability in the electric vehicle supply chain. The government has implemented various initiatives, including production-linked incentive schemes, to reduce dependency on imports and establish a robust local EV ecosystem.
