JSW MG Motor India Records 47% of Total EV Sales in 2024 from South India

JSW MG Motor India sold 22,646 electric vehicles across India in 2024, with South India accounting for 10,698 units or 47.2% of the total sales, the company said, citing VAHAN data released on March 20, 2025.

Karnataka led the regional sales, followed by Telangana and Kerala. The strong performance in these states reflects growing consumer acceptance of electric vehicles in the southern market.

The company's EV portfolio includes the MG Windsor, which has become India's best-selling electric vehicle since its launch. The Windsor is priced at INR 9.99 lakh with an additional Battery-as-a-Service option at INR 3.9 per kilometer.

Other models in the lineup include the MG Comet, positioned as a compact urban vehicle starting at INR 4.99 lakh with Battery-as-a-Service at INR 2.5 per kilometer, and the MG ZS EV, India's first pure electric Internet SUV, priced from INR 13.99 lakh with Battery-as-a-Service at INR 4.5 per kilometer.

JSW MG Motor India is a joint venture formed in 2023 between SAIC Motor, a Fortune 500 company with global operations in over 100 countries, and India's JSW Group. The partnership aims to develop a range of electric vehicles while building a sustainable automotive ecosystem in India.

Morris Garages, originally founded in the UK in 1924, has evolved from its heritage of sports cars and roadsters to focus on connected, autonomous, shared, and electric mobility solutions. The company operates a manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat, with an annual production capacity exceeding 100,000 vehicles and employing 6,000 people directly and indirectly.
