JSW MG Motor India reports strong EV-led growth in January 2025

JSW MG Motor India recorded sales of 4,455 units in January 2025, marking a 256% increase compared to the same period last year. Electric vehicles accounted for more than 70% of the company's total sales, with the MG Windsor, Comet, and ZS EV models leading the company's performance.

The automotive manufacturer plans to introduce two new models in its New Energy Vehicle (NEV) lineup through its luxury brand channel, MG Select. The upcoming launches include the MG Cyberster and MG M9, expanding the company's presence in the premium segment.

JSW MG's strong EV sales reflect the broader trend in India's automotive market, where electric vehicle adoption has been gaining momentum. The company has positioned itself as a significant player in the Indian EV market since JSW Group acquired MG Motor's India operations from SAIC Motor Corp in late 2023.

The Indian electric vehicle market has seen substantial growth in recent years, driven by government incentives, increasing environmental awareness, and improving charging infrastructure. Industry analysts expect this growth trajectory to continue as more automotive manufacturers expand their electric vehicle offerings in the country.

The company's current EV portfolio caters to different market segments, from the compact Comet for urban mobility to the premium ZS EV and Windsor models. This diversified approach has helped JSW MG establish a notable presence in India's evolving electric vehicle landscape.
