JSW MG Motor India has implemented a Green Pretreatment Line in its Paint Shop, making it the first original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in India to adopt this technology. The initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 1,800 tons per year.
The development was carried out in collaboration with PPG Asian Paints, which supplied an ambient temperature phosphate (at 38°C) for use in JSW MG Motor India’s Pretreatment Electrodeposition (PT-ED) line. This approach has resulted in lower carbon emissions compared to conventional pretreatment processes, which typically operate at 42–50°C.
JSW MG Motor India is a joint venture between the JSW Group and MG Motor, established to strengthen MG’s presence in the Indian automotive market. The partnership combines JSW Group’s industrial expertise with MG Motor’s legacy in automobile manufacturing.
