In celebration of International Reducing CO2 Emissions Day, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar, flagged off the first batch of 5 JBM ECOLIFE electric buses at Panipat Bus Depot. JBM Auto, a Haryana-based bus manufacturer, provided these 100% electric buses, marking a significant step in promoting sustainable and eco-friendly public transportation in the state. The event witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, government officials, and industry leaders.
Under the National Electric Bus Programme, JBM Auto is set to supply a total of 375 electric buses in Haryana. To facilitate the smooth operation of these buses, JBM Auto has established an end-to-end electric bus ecosystem at the depot, including power and charging infrastructure. Recently, JBM Auto inaugurated one of the largest electric bus manufacturing plants in Haryana, with the capacity to produce 20,000 electric buses annually.
The newly launched JBM ECOLIFE electric buses, as Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV), are equipped with fast-charging lithium-ion batteries and boast modern features such as Real-Time Passenger Information System (PIS), Panic Buttons for emergencies, Automatic Bus Vehicle Location System, CCTV cameras, public address system, and stop request buttons.
The deployment of these electric buses is expected to save approximately 1,000 equivalent tons of carbon dioxide and 420,000 liters of diesel over a decade of operation. Haryana Transport Department, through its subsidiary "Haryana City Bus Services Ltd.," will manage and operate the City Bus Service in several cities, including Panchkula, Ambala, Sonepat, Rewari, Yamuna Nagar, Karnal, Panipat, Rohtak, and Hisar. The order for 375 electric AC buses was placed under the National Electric Bus Programme by CESL (Convergence Energy Services Limited) through a global tender.
