The Indian Navy and Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles have partnered for the “Ride of the Marakkars” motorcycle rally, a tribute to India’s maritime history and naval strength. The rally began on December 2 at INS Kunjali in Mumbai, featuring a convoy of 22 motorcycles led by senior Navy officers. For the first time, BSA Motorcycles have joined the Indian Navy’s fleet of Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles.
The rally spans 1,580 kilometers over ten days and is set to conclude on December 11 at the starting point in Mumbai. The route includes stops at Pune, Satara, Dapoli, Ratnagiri, and Goa, with activities focused on promoting national pride, sustainability, and community interaction.
Vishal Choudhary, Chief Marketing Officer of Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles, stated that the rally strengthens the partnership between Jawa Yezdi and the Indian Navy, emphasizing shared values of reliability and excellence. Lieutenant Commander Vishal Nair of the Indian Navy highlighted the rally’s focus on connecting with young Indians and celebrating cultural heritage.
As part of Navy Week celebrations, the rally honors the legacy of the Kunjali Marakkars and India’s maritime history. Twenty-four personnel from the Western Naval Command are participating, traveling along the Konkan coast and engaging with communities. The initiative also emphasizes environmental sustainability, national unity, and fitness through various activities.
During the journey, the convoy stops at key maritime landmarks and conducts outreach programs, including visits to schools and colleges, career guidance sessions on opportunities in the Indian Navy, tree plantation drives, and interactive discussions at naval heritage sites.
Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles have a longstanding association with the Indian Armed Forces, including previous collaborations like the INS Vikrant expedition and the Jawa 42 Tawang Edition. The “Ride of the Marakkars” continues this relationship, reflecting a commitment to supporting India’s defense community with reliable and high-performance motorcycles.
