Ergon Labs and Omega Seiki Private Limited (OSPL) have announced a strategic partnership that includes a ₹50 crore order for Ergon's Integrated Power Converter (IPC) technology. The deal, announced today, will see OSPL become the first manufacturer to integrate this technology into its electric three-wheelers, beginning with the L5 segment.

Ergon Labs and Omega Seiki Private Limited (OSPL) have announced a strategic partnership that includes a ₹50 crore order for Ergon's Integrated Power Converter (IPC) technology. The deal, announced today, will see OSPL become the first manufacturer to integrate this technology into its electric three-wheelers, beginning with the L5 segment.
The partnership also includes a strategic investment from OSPL Founder and Chairman Uday Narang, who will join Ergon Labs' advisory board. The financial details of this investment were not disclosed in the announcement.
According to the companies, the IPC technology combines the on-board charger and motor controller into a single unit, which they claim provides 30% gradeability, 50% faster charging, and 30% lower system costs compared to conventional separate components.
The first commercial deployment will include 2,000 units across India in the 2026 fiscal year, targeting the L5 Passenger segment. This market segment has seen growth due to adoption by transportation aggregators such as Rapido, Ola, and Uber in metropolitan and regional centers.
Ashwin Ramanujam, CEO of Ergon Labs, described the partnership as "a pivotal milestone" for the company's mission to innovate in light EV powertrains. The company has completed over 50,000 kilometers of on-road testing and is in the process of certification, expected to be finalized within a month.
The companies are also developing an L5 Cargo electric vehicle designed to handle payloads exceeding 500 kg, specifically targeting markets where diesel vehicles are commonly used for cargo transportation.
India's electric three-wheeler market has experienced significant growth in recent years as the government pushes for electric vehicle adoption to reduce pollution and decrease dependency on imported fuel. The electric three-wheeler segment, particularly in commercial applications, has seen faster adoption than personal vehicles due to favorable economics and operating costs.
Ergon Labs, an engineering-focused startup, specializes in powertrain technologies for light electric vehicles. Omega Seiki, part of the Anglian Omega Group, has been expanding its presence in the electric three-wheeler market with both passenger and cargo applications.
