Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has introduced the Hyundai Creta Electric, marking a significant development in its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio. This new model brings together SUV design, performance, and sustainability, catering to the evolving preferences of Indian consumers.
The Hyundai Creta Electric features design elements inspired by Hyundai’s global pixel design language. Its exterior includes a pixelated graphic front grille integrated with a charging port, pixelated graphic bumpers, and LED tail lamps. Active air flaps (AAF) have been incorporated to optimise airflow for cooling and aerodynamics. Additionally, R17 Aero Alloy Wheels with low rolling resistance (LRR) tyres are included to improve range and aerodynamics.
The vehicle offers two battery options. The 51.4 kWh battery provides a driving range of 473 km on a single charge, while the 42 kWh battery offers a range of 390 km. Rapid charging is facilitated by DC charging, enabling a 10% to 80% charge in 58 minutes, while the 11 kW wall box charger completes a full charge in approximately 4 hours using AC home charging.
Performance-wise, the Hyundai Creta Electric accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds for the long-range variant. It is equipped with technologies such as Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), which allows the car to power external devices, and i-Pedal technology, which enables single-pedal driving. The vehicle also features a shift-by-wire system for intuitive gear control and a digital key for smartphone or smartwatch access.
The Hyundai Creta Electric will be available in four variants: Executive, Smart, Premium, and Excellence. Customers can choose from eight monotone and two dual-tone color options, including three matte finishes. A new Ocean Blue Metallic with a black roof option is also being introduced.
Speaking about the launch, Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and Chief Operating Officer at HMIL, stated that the Hyundai Creta Electric represents the company's commitment to offering localized electric SUVs tailored for Indian consumers.
The introduction of the Hyundai Creta Electric aligns with Hyundai's global vision of sustainable mobility. The company is focusing on battery localization, infrastructure development, and offering advanced electric mobility solutions to meet diverse customer needs.
