Hyundai Motor Company's President and CEO José Muñoz conducted his first town hall meeting with employees at the company's Namyang R&D Center in South Korea on February 21, 2025, focusing on customer service, quality standards, and technological advancement. The meeting, attended by over 800 employees on-site, was also livestreamed to Hyundai offices worldwide.
During the hour-long session, Muñoz shared his observations from his first two months as CEO and outlined the company's approach to electric vehicles and autonomous driving technology. He stressed the importance of strategic partnerships and advanced technology development to maintain Hyundai's competitive position in the global market.
"We will succeed by continuing to deliver beautifully designed, high-quality vehicles with technology that customers want. We must treat our customers as honored guests and provide exceptional service," Muñoz said during the meeting.
The CEO addressed questions about global EV adoption, explaining that Hyundai maintains investments across multiple powertrain technologies, including hybrid electric vehicles, extended range electric vehicles, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and internal combustion engines, to meet varying consumer demands.
The event marked a significant milestone for the Namyang R&D Center, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. The 3.47 million-square-meter facility serves as Hyundai's global research and development hub, housing capabilities in software development, design, engineering, and vehicle testing.
Muñoz, who joined Hyundai Motor Company in 2019, has led significant growth in the company's global operations. The town hall was attended by key executives including Heui Won Yang, President and Head of Research and Development Division, and Hae In Kim, Executive Vice President and Chief HR Officer.
Hyundai Motor Company, established in 1967, currently operates in over 200 countries with more than 120,000 employees. The company has been expanding its focus on smart mobility solutions and investing in technologies such as robotics and Advanced Air Mobility while pursuing the development of zero-emission vehicles.
