Hyundai Motor Company and TVS Motor Company announced at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 that they will explore a partnership aimed at developing advanced electric three-wheelers and micro four-wheelers. Hyundai unveiled its Micro Mobility Concept EVs at the event.
The potential collaboration is set to address India’s growing demand for last-mile connectivity solutions, with a focus on sustainability, adaptability, and convenience.
While the discussions remain in the exploratory stage, Hyundai plans to provide design, engineering, and technology expertise, while TVS will focus on manufacturing and marketing these vehicles in India.
“Hyundai is a customer-centric brand, and our mission is to care for people in India by designing micro-mobility solutions tailored to its unique environment,” said SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai and Genesis Global Design. “Collaborating with TVS Motor, we aim to locally produce the three-wheeler while exploring global opportunities for the four-wheeler, blending intuitive functionality with India’s spirit of innovation.”
The new Micro Mobility Concepts underline Hyundai’s vision of ‘Progress for Humanity,’ focusing on solutions that connect communities, enhance accessibility, and champion inclusivity. The Electric Three-Wheeler Concept, for instance, is a modernized take on India’s ubiquitous motor rickshaw, featuring eco-friendly designs that can serve multiple purposes, such as logistics, emergency response, or passenger transport.
Sharad Mishra, President of Group Strategy at TVS Motor Company, said, “By combining Hyundai’s global expertise with TVS’ deep understanding of mobility solutions, we aim to redefine last-mile connectivity through innovative and sustainable designs."
Hyundai’s Micro Mobility Concepts are designed to address the challenges of India’s urban infrastructure. The Electric Three-Wheeler Concept is compact, maneuverable, and equipped to handle narrow streets and waterlogged roads during monsoon season. Key features include angled windshield, flat floor and extended wheelbase, adjustable body height and large tyres and towing hook.
Hyundai and TVS are reviewing the feasibility of scaling these vehicles for global markets, with the electric four-wheeler concept under evaluation for broader application.
