Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) announced today that its Honda Elevate SUV has reached a cumulative sales milestone of 100,000 units across domestic and international markets. The achievement comes approximately 17 months after the model's initial launch in September 2023.
According to company data, domestic sales account for 53,326 units, while exports to international markets including Japan, South Africa, Nepal, and Bhutan comprise 47,653 units. The vehicle is manufactured exclusively at HCIL's facility in Tapukara, Rajasthan.
This export initiative has substantially contributed to HCIL's international business growth, with the company reporting a 65% increase in exports during fiscal year 2023-24 and a 92% rise in the current financial year through January 2025.
Behl added that the model has been well-received across different customer demographics and emphasized that the export volumes to Japan "reinforced our Indian manufacturing prowess and global competitiveness."
In the domestic market, sales data reveals several notable trends. The top-grade ZX variant, which features Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), accounts for 53% of total sales. Additionally, 79% of customers opt for models with Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), available across three variant grades.
The company reports that 22% of Elevate buyers are first-time car owners, while 43% purchase the model as an additional vehicle in their household. The most popular color choice is Platinum White Pearl, selected by 35.1% of buyers.
The Elevate, developed under the concept of 'Urban Freestyler,' is E20 compliant, meaning it can run on fuel containing up to 20% ethanol, aligning with India's push toward greener transportation solutions. Since its introduction, the SUV has reportedly accumulated over 3.26 billion kilometers of driving distance across its Indian customer base.
