Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEML), the electric mobility division of Greaves Cotton Limited (GCL), has teamed up with Indofast Energy, a 50-50 joint venture between Indian Oil and SUN Mobility, to advance last-mile transportation solutions. The partnership targets B2B fleets and ride-sharing services, offering electric two-wheeler (e-2W) and energy solutions designed to meet the evolving demands of the industry.
The collaboration introduces the Ampere ‘Magnus SW.S’, a scooter integrated with Indofast Energy’s battery-swapping technology. Aimed at gig economy riders traveling over 100 kilometers daily, the vehicle allows users to exchange depleted batteries for fully charged ones at Indofast Energy’s growing network of swapping stations. This system seeks to reduce downtime, cut operational costs, and boost efficiency. The initiative supports GEML’s focus on sustainable mobility and aligns with Indofast Energy’s goal of establishing battery swapping as a standard charging method for commuters.
The Ampere ‘Magnus SW.S’ features a 2.4 kW motor, capable of navigating steep gradients and handling heavy loads or a pillion rider. With a payload capacity of 151 kg, it is built for heavy-duty use. The scooter also incorporates IoT-enabled technology to enhance connectivity and assist with fleet management.
The partnership aims to address the needs of the mobility sector by combining battery-swapping infrastructure with the Magnus platform, providing practical and sustainable options for businesses and gig economy workers. Plans include deploying over 50,000 vehicles in the next year through fleet partners and individual driver-owners, making the Ampere Magnus SW.S available via Ampere’s distribution network for both commercial fleets and gig operators.
This move reinforces Greaves Electric Mobility’s presence in the electric mobility market, delivering transportation solutions that balance performance with environmental considerations.
