Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEML), the e-mobility arm of Greaves Cotton Limited, reported strong sales in January. Under the company’s flagship Ampere brand, it sold 3,611 units in January according to the Vahan portal, retaining the 5th spot amongst top-selling electric two-wheeler brands in India.
The manufacturer recorded 53% Y-o-Y growth, and a 27% M-o-M growth, largely driven by sales of its premium family electric scooters - Nexus and Magnus Neo. Overall, retail growth for Ampere (including slow-speed vehicles) was 38% M-o-M, exceeding the industry growth average.
The Magnus Neo, an updated variant of the Ampere Magnus which was launched recently, sports several upgrades from its predecessor, in terms of style, power, strength, savings and safety. The e-scooter features an LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery and provides a certified range of 100+ km for extended rides with a charging time of 5-6 hours.
The company also released its family scooter Nexus, earlier in 2024. Labelled ‘The Nex Big Thing’, the scooter boasts high-performance and family-focused features including a speed of 93 kmph and 136 km certified range. Notably, both these scooters earned a place in the India Book of Records for their launch with record-setting journeys across India, highlighting their performance and durability.
Greaves Electric Mobility also continues to maintain its stronghold over the electric three-wheeler segment. MLR Auto Limited, a subsidiary of Greaves Electric Mobility that operates in the electric three-wheeler (L5 category) segment, also showed a notable growth of 52% M-o-M, selling 665 units. Further, Ele, another subsidiary of the conglomerate involved in the e-rickshaw segment, has had noteworthy sales in recent months, especially in the key market of Uttar Pradesh where it witnessed a Q-o-Q growth of 21%.
