Govt approves three semiconductor plants; Investment pegged at Rs 1.26 lakh crore

The semiconductor fab in Dholera (Gujarat), will have a capacity of 50,000 wafers per month, while assembly, testing, monitoring and packing units in Morigaon(Assam) and Sanand(Gujarat) will produce 48 million and 15 million chips daily, respectively.

In a big move for a resilient domestic semiconductor ecosystem, the cabinet today approved the establishment of three semiconductor plants. The plants - two in Gujarat and one in Assam - will see a total investment of Rs 1.26 lakh crore.
