Emobi has launched its new Made-in-India electric two-wheeler, the AKX Commuter.
The Bengaluru-based EV2W manufacturing start-up has introduced the AKX LS: a low-speed model designed for micro-mobility applications specifically targeting the 30% of riders employed in last mile delivery who may not have a suitable driving licence to drive high speed vehicles. The vehicle is equipped with a powerful Li-ion battery pack designed in compliance with industry leading smart BMS and safety features, offering a capacity of 1.5 kWh with LFP chemistry and 2.3 kWh with NMC chemistry. It can be fully charged within 30 minutes with our proprietary fast chargers and provides a range of up to 75 km on a single charge with the LFP variant and 120 km on a single charge with the NMC variant.
The AKX has a custom designed motor to enable high efficiency in low speed operations and in compliance with the regulations. The AKX with its performance and build quality would make it ideal for quick-commerce delivery operations.
One of its standout features is the fast charging battery system, which allows operators to fully charge the battery in 30 minutes. This ensures increased operational efficiency as users can quickly charge the battery and resume work without delay.
Emobi has also collaborated with Livaah Innovations to make the battery pack used in the AKX compatible with Livaah’s inverters, which allows any of Livaah’s solar hybrid inverter customers the optionality of using the AKX and its battery pack with Livaah’s inverter. This would not only allow for fast charging of the battery for the customer but also allow the battery from the AKX to be used as energy backup during power outages. The dual use battery packs and AKX vehicles are being promoted by Livaah to the B2C market, while Emobi continues to focus its operations largely for the B2B last mile delivery operations and customers.
The Indian B2B market for electric vehicles is on the verge of rapid expansion. However, electric vehicle offerings in this market segment tend to cater more towards cost, than the performance of the vehicle, due to increased complexities involved in designing high-performance vehicles. This makes it harder for companies, especially in the bike taxi category to convince riders to abandon their ICE vehicles and transition to Electric Vehicles.
