Italian sports motorcycle marque Ducati is set to introduce 14 new products in the Indian market in CY25. On March 5, the company introduced the 2025 edition of its flagship Panigale brand with the latest Ducati Panigale V4 and Panigale V4 S, priced at Rs 29.9 lakh, and Rs 36.5 lakh, ex-showroom, respectively.

Riding the wave of a growing trend of passion-driven motorcycling in the country, Ducati aims to tap into the market potential by introducing a flurry of new products, including refreshes of several existing models, over the next nine months in the ongoing calendar. Speaking to Autocar Professional on the sidelines of the launch in New Delhi, Bipul Chandra, Managing Director, Ducati India, said, “2025 is a very busy year for Ducati India. While we have already launched the DesertX Discovery a few weeks back, and now followed it up with the latest Panigale, we will introduce 12 new products going forward.”

Ducati is set to introduce a new variant of the Scrambler, a facelift of the Multistrada V4, as well as the new Streetfighter V4 built on the same platform. A major highlight this year will be a brand-new platform for Ducati’s V2 family, comprising the Ducati Multistrada V2, Panigale V2, and Streetfighter V2. “These three new products in the V2 range are going to be completely new as they are going to be built on an all-new platform,” Chandra pointed out.

“While we will end the year with the launch of the XDiavel V4, in between, we will introduce some special edition motorcycles, for instance the ‘Diavel for Bentley’ that we have just started delivering to our customers in India,” he added. Ducati’s CY25 plans for India also include other collector’s editions like the Panigale V2 Final Edition, Panigale V4 Tricolore and Panigale V4 Tricolore Italia.

The company is leveraging the India-Thailand Free-Trade Agreement (FTA) to bring these motorcycles to the country as completely-built-up units or CBUs.

Growing ADV Segment in India

According to Chandra, while the Scrambler and Monster form the bulk of the company’s volumes contributing to about 25% of its total sales in India, the rest of the brands, be it the Panigale, Streetfighter, Multistrada, or Diavel, contribute almost an equal proportion. “This evenly spreads our volumes, giving us financial security as well,” he said.

Furthermore, he revealed that there is a significant growth in the ADV segment in the country. “ADV is a segment which is showing a notable growth in India and as a result, we are putting a serious focus on ADVs to make them an integral part of our portfolio. That is why we are set to launch the facelifted Multistrada V4 in CY25, as well as the Multistrada V2 on an all-new platform,” Chandra added.

“Ducati is a company which thrives on innovation and the Multistrada V4 is a unique ADV to have a front radar and a blind-spot detection system, along with adaptive cruise control. We are trying to make biking as much engaging and safe as possible,” he pointed out.

Electrification on the Horizon
Ducati, which first showcased its V21L electric motorcycle prototype in 2021, has been the official supplier of the e-bikes to the FIM MotoE World Championship which started in 2023. According to Chandra, “While multiple forces such as government policies, emission norms, and customer demand are at play when it comes to electrification in this category, in the next few years, Ducati shall have a product in the electric motorcycle segment. We are working on it.”

“Innovation is key and racing is in our DNA. Ducati is running the e-motorcycles in the MotoE World Championship, and while the technology is still evolving, MotoE, which is the electric class of the MotoGP, is a source of great learning for us,” he added.

Expanding Retail, Service Network
Ducati India, which presently has a presence in India with 13 strategically located touchpoints, aims to strengthen its network with the expansion of its product portfolio. “Of these 13 outlets, 12 are 3S facilities, while one is a standalone workshop. located in Goa. We are just about completing 10 years of our operations in India, and we saw an opportunity to open a standalone workshop in Goa, which is a big tourist attraction and a major biker’s market in India,” Chandra said.

“Extending the same concept, we have identified certain locations in other parts of the country, where we need to have dealerships and standalone workshops. Therefore, we will be increasing the number of touchpoints going forward,” he added.

According to Chandra, the company has a wide variety of riders across age groups buying into the Ducati fold in India. “If we look at the cross-section of our riders, we find people from all walks of life buying into the Ducati brand, particularly owing to their propensity of traveling abroad, and getting similar infrastructure now in the country. With continuous improvements in the infrastructure, higher disposable incomes, and rising exposure to global conditions, we are in for a good future,” he pointed out.

Ducati India is confident of growing in the range of 6-8% in CY25, despite the global headwinds and uncertainties. “There seems to be some turbulence and headwinds, but premium biking is slightly isolated from these things as firstly, it is a very small segment, and secondly, it is fundamentally driven by passion. Therefore, despite these headwinds, CY25 looks promising, and our new model launches will augur well for Ducati India. While we had registered a little over 6% year-on-year growth in CY24, we hope to grow higher than last year in this calendar,” Chandra signed off.
