Delta Electronics India has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with ThunderPlus, a provider of charging solutions for two-wheeler (2W) and three-wheeler (3W) electric vehicles (EVs). As part of the agreement, Delta will supply high-efficiency 4kW rectifier modules, manufactured at its facility in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, to support ThunderPlus’ fast chargers for low-voltage EVs in the 2W and 3W segments.
The rectifiers, featuring an energy efficiency of up to 93%, are designed to provide reliable and sustainable power solutions. Delta Electronics India’s Managing Director, Niranjan Nayak, emphasized that the collaboration aligns with the company’s objective of delivering energy-efficient solutions to support India’s EV transition. He highlighted the role of Delta’s research and development capabilities in Bengaluru and its Krishnagiri manufacturing site in achieving this milestone.
Manjula Girish, Business Head of EV Charging Infrastructure at Delta Electronics India, noted that the rectifiers are tailored to meet the requirements of ThunderPlus’ fast chargers. She added that this partnership highlights the integration of advanced technology with localized manufacturing to address India’s growing EV market.
ThunderPlus CEO, Rajeev YSR, stated that the collaboration combines Delta’s expertise in power solutions with ThunderPlus’ focus on providing efficient EV charging infrastructure. He explained that the chargers, which are customizable, are designed to meet the operational needs of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and end-users.
The partnership seeks to enhance the charging experience for India’s 2W and 3W EV users by reducing charging downtime and supporting the development of a sustainable charging infrastructure. The chargers, designed with Delta’s rectifier modules, aim to balance global standards with Indian market needs. ThunderPlus has already engaged with OEMs in the 2W and 3W segments and plans to use co-branding opportunities to strengthen this collaboration further.
India’s EV market, driven by increasing adoption of 2W and 3W vehicles, continues to grow rapidly. The rectifiers and chargers produced under this collaboration are expected to contribute to the development of a robust EV ecosystem in the country.
