In FY25, Cityflo, India's premium mobility platform, facilitated the saving of over 73 lakh litres of fuel and prevented 6,659 tonnes of CO₂ emissions by replacing 15 lakh private car trips with its bus services in Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad. The company announced these impact metrics on April 15, 2025, highlighting its growing contribution to sustainable urban transportation.
The environmental impact equates to the carbon absorption capacity of approximately 3.3 lakh trees annually. Cityflo's services have helped reclaim road space, as each bus at peak occupancy removes the equivalent of three cars from the road, contributing to smoother traffic flow during high-congestion periods.
Founded in 2015 by IIT Bombay graduates, Cityflo has positioned itself as a solution for India's congested metropolitan corridors. The company now operates more than 450 buses across three major cities, with plans to transition 20% of its fleet to electric vehicles by FY26.
"The numbers from this year reinforce a shift we're seeing on the ground — commuters are ready to embrace reliable, shared mobility alternatives, if the quality of service meets their expectations. But the gap is still wide: we're adding 3 lakh cars to Indian roads every month, while public bus density remains at just 1.2 per 1,000 people. At Cityflo, we see ourselves as partners in public mobility — helping build systems and models that complement city planning efforts and accelerate the transition to cleaner, more efficient urban transport," stated company representatives.
The platform has proven particularly popular among professional commuters, with women constituting 41% of its customer base. Cityflo attributes this to its focus on safety and service quality, including features such as app-based booking, reserved seating, and clean interiors.
Cityflo currently employs 150 professionals and supports an ecosystem of over 550 drivers and operations staff. The company, backed by investors including Lightbox Ventures and India Quotient, is exploring expansion into new verticals and partnerships to further integrate its commute solutions into everyday transport programs.
