BMW Z4 M40i Pure Impulse Edition Launched in India at ₹96.90 Lakh
BMW introduces the limited-run Z4 M40i Pure Impulse Edition with manual and automatic variants, priced at ₹96.90 lakh and ₹97.90 lakh respectively, offering updated styling and performance enhancements for Indian buyers.
BMW India has introduced the new Z4 M40i Pure Impulse Edition, offering the popular roadster in a limited-edition format. The model is available as a Completely Built-Up Unit (CBU) and, for the first time in India, features a six-speed manual transmission option alongside the eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission.
This edition brings subtle exterior and mechanical changes. Two new metallic paint options, Frozen Deep Green and Sanremo Green, are being introduced. It also debuts a staggered wheel setup for the BMW Z4 M40i, pairing 19-inch front and 20-inch rear M light alloy wheels. The manual variant comes with Leather Vernasca Cognac upholstery, featuring contrast stitching and edge detailing exclusive to this transmission.
BMW has priced the automatic variant of the Z4 M40i Pure Impulse at ₹96.90 lakh, while the manual version is priced at ₹97.90 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, India). These prices include GST and compensation cess but exclude other applicable taxes and fees.
The Z4 M40i Pure Impulse Edition is powered by a 3.0-litre straight-six petrol engine from BMW's EfficientDynamics range, producing 340 hp and 500 Nm of torque. The manual version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, while the automatic version does it in 4.5 seconds. The manual transmission has been specially developed for this edition and includes M-specific components to handle the power output.
The interior of the car features M Sport seats, an M leather steering wheel, High Gloss Black trim finishers, ambient lighting, two-zone automatic climate control, and electric seat adjustment with memory function. Storage options include additional space behind the seats with a retaining net, cupholders under the centre armrest, and roomy door pockets. A through-loading system is also available for carrying larger items.
Exterior highlights include a redesigned kidney grille with a horizontal pattern, vertically aligned LED headlights, and a long bonnet. The rear design is accentuated with slim L-shaped LED tail lights, a distinctive spoiler, and a rear diffuser. Red-painted M Sport brake calipers, High Gloss Shadowline elements, and black mirror caps are included as standard.
Optional features include Comfort Access, Anthracite Silver soft-top, lumbar support, M seat belts, adaptive LED headlights, high beam assist, Harman Kardon surround sound system, Parking Assistant, and a head-up display.
Technology features in the Z4 M40i Pure Impulse include BMW’s Live Cockpit Professional with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and touchscreen display. The system runs on BMW Operating System 7.0 and supports wireless Apple CarPlay, navigation with 3D maps, and Bluetooth connectivity. A range of driver assistance features are also available, such as Active Park Distance Control, rear-view camera, Driving Assistant, and wireless charging.
The model continues to offer BMW’s EfficientDynamics technologies, such as Auto Start-Stop, ECO PRO mode, Brake-Energy Regeneration, and a near 50:50 weight distribution. The car is also equipped with Adaptive M Sport suspension, M Sport brakes, and M Sport differential as standard.
Safety equipment includes front and side airbags, ABS with brake assist, Dynamic Stability Control, Cornering Brake Control, Dynamic Brake Control, side-impact protection, and an electronic immobilizer.
