Big launches from Mahindra in 2025

During the previous year, Mahindra was quite busy bringing out the facelift for the XUV300, now called the XUV 3XO, and then launching perhaps its most anticipated model in recent years, the 5-door Thar Roxx. The SUV specialist also revealed the first born EVs based on the INGLO platform, the BE 6 and the XEV 9e, in 2024. The e-SUV onslaught is expected to continue into this year for Mahindra.

Mahindra BE 6

While Mahindra did announce a starting price for the BE 6 (Rs 18.90 lakh), the complete price range will be revealed this month (expected to top out at Rs 25 lakh), while deliveries will commence towards the end of February. Apart from the radical design, the BE 6’s highlights include a 79kWh battery with 682km ARAI range, 281hp and 380Nm, and a claimed 0-100kph sprint time of 6.7 seconds. As our BE 6 review showed, the concept-car like interiors do look and feel space-age but cabin ergonomics could be better and the infotainment isn’t intuitive to use. The entry-level Pack One variant gets a 59kWh battery good for 556km of range. Mahindra has announced that it will temporarily use the BE 6 nameplate for the e-SUV, while it fights IndiGo Airline's copyright infringement suit in court.

Mahindra XEV 9e

The larger coupé-SUV shares its platform, battery and powertrain options with the BE 6, and is correspondingly marginally slower and less frugal on a single charge – the 0-100kph time is claimed to be 6.8 seconds, while the 59kWh and 79kWh batteries have ranges of 542km and 656km, respectively. On the other hand, our review of the XEV 9e showed that cabin and luggage space are greater than the smaller BE, and it gets more tech like a passenger-side infotainment screen. The complete price list will be revealed at the BMGE 2025, and deliveries will begin at the end of February. Considering its price point (starts at Rs 21.90 lakh and is expected to go up to Rs 30 lakh), features list and size, the BYD Atto 3 is currently the XEV 9e’s closest rival.

Mahindra XEV 7E

The standard SUV version of the XEV 9e, without the raked roofline and with a third row of seats, is expected to arrive late in the year. Images of what is the XUV700's all-electric version show that it retains a lot from the concept revealed back in 2022, from the slightly less radical design and upright stance when compared to the XEV 9e. The 7e will likely share all of its features, safety kit, tech, battery and powertrain options – among other bits – with the 9e. Expect similar range and performance figures, too. The all-electric three-row SUV will rival the Tata Harrier EV, and be priced in the Rs 20 lakh-30 lakh bracket.

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV

Essentially the XUV400 EV with a 200mm shorter rear overhang, the all-electric version of the XUV 3XO is likely to share the same styling as the compact SUV, albeit with EV-specific changes such as a closed-off grille aera and aero-optimised wheels. Sources tell us that the XUV 3XO EV will come with a 35kWh battery, which is smaller than the 40kWh one seen on the XUV400, in order to better position it against the Tata Nexon EV. Prices are expected to be in the Rs 15 lakh-20 lakh region when it arrives in the middle of middle of 2025.
