Bharat Forge Subsidiary Kalyani Powertrain Partners With AMD to Enter Indian Server Market
Kalyani Powertrain has introduced AMD’s EPYC CPU-based servers and plans to integrate AMD Instinct accelerators in the future.
Bharat Forge’s wholly-owned subsidiary Kalyani Powertrain has joined hands with the US-based chip maker Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) to enter the Indian server market with domestically manufactured solutions.
Under this partnership, the Nasdaq-listed company known for computing, graphics and visualization technologies will provide necessary design collaterals and technical documentation to Kalyani Powertrain’s electronics division to build and optimize domestically-made server solutions that meet global standards.
On Monday, Bharat Forge introduced AMD’s EPYC CPU-based servers. EPYC processors are known for their performance, energy efficiency, security features, and cost-effectiveness for data centers.
“We are excited to collaborate with Kalyani Powertrain to bring high-performance AMD computing solutions to the Indian market. The integration of AMD EPYC processors today and AMD Instinct accelerators planned in the future will enable scalable, energy-efficient infrastructure for AI, cloud computing, and data centers,” AMD Corporate Vice President Vinay Sinha said.
Pune-based Kalyani Group is a multinational company with advanced technology, engineering, and manufacturing capabilities across key sectors, including automotive, engineering steel, industrial, renewable energy, urban infrastructure and specialty chemicals.
"By manufacturing these servers in India, we will not only advance our technological capabilities but also support the 'Make in India' initiative. This collaboration with AMD is a significant step, and I am confident that we are moving in the right direction,” Kalyani Group Chairman Baba Kalyani said.
Apart from introducing EPYC CPU-based servers and incorporating AMD Instinct accelerators, the companies also have plans to enhance artificial intelligence and high-performance computing capabilities of servers.
This partnership aims to provide high-performance and affordable servers for Artificial Intelligence, cloud and big data to businesses and governments. Bharat Forge expects this collaboration to fortify India's data infrastructure.
