Automobili Lamborghini is intensifying its efforts toward decarbonisation by expanding its ‘Direzione Cor Tauri’ strategy. The company aims to reduce CO2 emissions per car across the entire value chain by 40 percent by 2030. This initiative is supported by the largest investment plan in the company's history and demonstrates Lamborghini's commitment to environmental sustainability.
The ‘Direzione Cor Tauri’ program, launched in 2021, focuses on electrification of the model range and decarbonization of the production site. The new target of a 40 percent reduction in CO2 emissions per car by 2030 covers the entire enterprise, including production, supply chain, logistics, and the product use phase. This holistic approach reflects Lamborghini's dedication to global environmental sustainability.
The electrification process began in 2023 with the launch of the Revuelto, the first High-Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV) hybrid super sports car. In 2024, Lamborghini plans to introduce the first hybrid version of the Urus Super SUV and another HPEV replacing the Huracan. The company aims to launch its first full electric model in 2028, followed by a full electric Super SUV in 2029. The strategy aims for a 50 percent reduction in CO2 emissions by 2025 and an 80 percent reduction by 2030 for the fleet in circulation.
The initiative is part of Lamborghini's commitment to sustainability, encompassing various aspects such as production, supply chain, logistics, and the use of its products. The company has already achieved carbon neutrality for its Sant’Agata Bolognese production site since 2015 and is continuously working on reducing energy consumption, water usage, and environmental impact. The ‘Direzione Cor Tauri"’ program reflects Lamborghini's vision to be a leader in sustainability and inspire others to address modern environmental challenges.
The company's investment plan will support the program, and it also focuses on people engagement, including the creation of new jobs, well-being initiatives, and continuous learning opportunities for its team. Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, emphasises that the ambitious project is driven by a commitment to future generations and staying true to Lamborghini's DNA and roots.
