Amphenol introduced two locally manufactured electric vehicle charging solutions at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi on January 19. The company unveiled its DuraSwap Concentric Connectors and Type 6 Charging Gun solution, targeting India's growing electric two-wheeler and three-wheeler segments.
The Type 6 Charging Gun and Inlet, compliant with IEC 62196-6 standards, can handle continuous current up to 100A and features communication protocols between vehicles and charging infrastructure. The DuraSwap Concentric Connectors, designed for battery swapping systems, offer similar current capacity with IP67 rating for environmental protection.
Tony Peter Paul, Global Product Marketing Manager for E-Mobility at Amphenol, said the products represent the company's commitment to supporting electric vehicle infrastructure growth globally while addressing local market needs.
The launch event was attended by Dr. Anita Gupta, Head of Scientific Divisions at DST, and Mr. Suresh Babu, Scientist E/Director at DST. The company also showcased other power connectivity solutions including DuraEV, EnergyKlip Solutions, and Multi-Trak systems.
Amphenol's expansion into domestic manufacturing comes as India's electric vehicle market experiences rapid growth, particularly in the two-wheeler segment. The government has been promoting local manufacturing of EV components through various initiatives and policies.
The company, known globally for interconnect solutions in communications and electronics markets, operates manufacturing facilities across multiple countries. In India, Amphenol has been expanding its presence to serve the growing demand for electronic components in the automotive and mobility sectors.
The electric vehicle charging infrastructure market in India is projected to expand significantly as the country aims to increase EV adoption. The standardization of charging solutions and local manufacturing are seen as crucial factors in achieving this goal.
