Altair (Nasdaq: ALTR), a global provider of computational intelligence solutions, has appointed Cimatron Ltd., part of Sandvik Group, as its new global channel partner. This partnership will expand the reach of Altair’s design and simulation solutions available within the Altair® HyperWorks® platform. Cimatron will offer Altair® Inspire™ Mold and Altair® Inspire™ Form, which are designed for injection molding and metal forming simulations, respectively.
Pavan Kumar, Senior Vice President, Global Indirect Business at Altair, highlighted that this collaboration aims to introduce Altair's technology to new customers, particularly those not currently using simulation or data analytics tools. This partnership will help these customers improve their competitiveness in a market increasingly shaped by digital transformation. He also noted that Cimatron is a valuable addition to Altair's channel partner ecosystem, and the partnership is expected to benefit manufacturing sector customers.
Dan Marinac, Acting President of Cimatron, stated that the company has a long-standing presence in the mold, tool, and die industry, and its customers have been looking for modern tools to validate their designs and reduce physical tryout costs. By combining Cimatron's expertise with Altair's technology, the partnership aims to enhance productivity and help users develop higher-quality and more efficient products across manufacturing sectors.
Cimatron selected Altair's solutions to bring “virtual prove out” capabilities to its mold and die design tools. The goal is to enable digital twin modeling, simulation, and design optimisation, allowing customers to predict and avoid manufacturing defects such as filling, packing, sink marks, cooling, warpage, and surface defects. Altair’s technology aims to make simulation more accessible, reducing the learning curve and enabling toolmakers to utilise these solutions without needing specialised knowledge in computer-aided engineering (CAE).
Founded in 1982, Cimatron develops and distributes CAD/CAM software for the manufacturing industry. The company offers specialised solutions for mold and die makers, as well as for production milling and turning. Cimatron has subsidiaries in Asia, North America, and Europe, and works with certified service providers in over 40 countries.
