Serial entrepreneur Suman Gandham, known for his acquisition by a Fintech Unicorn, has launched a new AI mobility startup called Dacio. The company aims to enhance road safety in India by leveraging predictive video telematics, primarily targeting the commercial sector, including trucks, logistics companies, school buses, and multinational corporations.
Dacio's primary product is the Dacio Dash Cam AI, a cutting-edge dash cam designed for the B2B market. The dash cam analyses driving and driver behavior to improve road safety, providing fleet operators with real-time visibility into their drivers' performance and promoting higher driving standards and better driver conditions. It detects dangerous driving behaviors such as mobile phone usage, lack of seatbelt compliance, driver distraction, and signs of sleepiness and fatigue, promptly alerting both the driver and fleet operators.
Suman Gandham, the Founder and CEO of Dacio, stated that the company's mission is to harness the power of AI to make India's roads safer. The focus extends beyond just a dash cam, as Dacio aims to develop a comprehensive mobility suite that includes technologies like ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), tailored specifically for Indian road conditions. The company also plans to build an extensive India-centric data lake that can be utilised by OEMs to create solutions suited for the country's unique driving environment.
In addition to the four-channel dash cam, Dacio provides a retrofittable software that can be integrated into existing dash cams inside vehicles. The startup's solutions are enabled with edge computing, allowing real-time feedback without the latency associated with cloud processing, ensuring seamless functionality even in remote locations.
To launch Dacio, Suman Gandham has partnered with Abhilash Reddy, an automotive enthusiast with experience across fintech, motorsport, and IoT sectors, who serves as the company's Co-founder. Dacio has already secured paid customers across the logistics, education, and OEM sectors, with plans to deploy 10,000 dash cams over the next 12 months. The startup is eyeing a seed round of funding in the coming months to scale its operations, expand the product portfolio, and reinforce its position as a leader in AI-driven road safety solutions.
