The Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) is set to host the first edition of the Automotive Aftermarket Expo, organised under the ACMA Mobility Foundation (AMF). The event will take place on December 6 and 7, 2024, at the Samrat Ashok International Convention Centre in Patna. This two-day event will bring together participants from India's aftermarket industry, including manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers.
The Automotive Aftermarket Expo aims to provide a platform for collaboration, business development, and knowledge sharing among professionals in the industry. It also seeks to educate mechanics, dealers, retailers, and wholesalers on the importance of using authentic and high-quality spare parts and replacement components.
Vinnie Mehta, Director and Secretary of the ACMA Mobility Foundation, highlighted the event's significance. He noted that the expo reflects the industry's focus on continuous improvement in the delivery of aftermarket products and services. The event will showcase over 1,000 products, with several new launches, from more than 30 exhibitors in the aftermarket sector.
Ramashankar Pandey, Chairman of the Aftermarket Sub-Pillar at the ACMA Mobility Foundation, emphasised the opportunities this expo brings for employment and business growth in Patna and Eastern India. He described the event as a strategic effort to engage with this market while promoting genuine spare parts, enhancing vehicular safety, and advancing the industry's progress.
Leading industry participants, including Brakes India, Elofic Industries, Gabriel India, J.K. Fenner (India), Lucas Indian Service, Minda Corporation, Rane Aftermarket Business, Sandhar Automotive System, Steelbird International, Suprajit Engineering, Talbros Indiparts, Tata AutoComp GY Batteries, UNO Minda, Varroc Engineering, and ZF Wabco Aftermarket, will present their latest offerings.
The expo is expected to attract over 5,000 business visitors, providing an opportunity to explore a wide array of products and attend B2B meetings designed to facilitate networking and partnerships.
In the fiscal year 2023-24, the Indian auto component industry's turnover reached ₹6.14 lakh crore (USD 74.1 billion). The aftermarket segment recorded a turnover of ₹93,886 crore (USD 11.3 billion), driven by increased vehicle movement and rising demand for used vehicles. The growth of e-commerce has further expanded aftermarket penetration, particularly in rural and suburban regions, fostering gradual organisation in the sector.
The auto components aftermarket in Bihar and Jharkhand accounts for approximately 5% of the national market. The region hosts around 155 automobile dealers, 1,000 auto component retailers, and numerous repair workshops, predominantly in urban areas such as Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Munger, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bokaro, and Dhanbad. Additionally, several workshops along highways serve both rural and suburban areas.
