Altair has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Centre of Excellence in Advanced Automotive Research (CAAR). The collaboration will focus on developing solutions that advance e-mobility, autonomous systems, and sustainable vehicles while reducing product development timelines.
“Our collaboration with CAAR and IIT Madras is poised to drive innovation in the automotive sector,” said Vishwanath Rao, country manager, Altair India.
“Our partnership with Altair marks a significant step in our mission to speed up the process of taking innovative concepts from academic research towards industry-ready technologies,” said Thiru Srinivasan, CEO, CAAR. “This partnership will also help further develop Altair’s software tools for use in the rapid development of high-value automotive products.”
CAAR was established under the guidance and support of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras. With a focus on translational research, CAAR bridges the gap between academic innovation and industrial implementation.
Altair India's MD and CEO Vishwanath Rao had informed Autocar Professional in an interview last year that the company was focusing more on AI offerings. Altair India, which at that time contributed USD 60–90 million of the global sales, said it was seeing sharp growth, as legacy OEMs and electric mobility firms look at an increasing need for faster adoption of technologies like AI and machine learning. Auto OEMs are looking to crunch go-to-market product cycles from 36 to 24 months, opening up opportunities for players like Altair to successfully use the latest technologies like Digital Twin to reduce their cycle time.
The simulation company counts all major two-wheeler makers in India, whether Bajaj, TVS, Royal Enfield, or the new age EV OEMs such as Ather, River, Matter Motor, or Tork Motors, among its customers.
