Yokohama India rolls out mud-terrain tyres for off-roading
Yokohama India has introduced mud-terrain tyres M/T in its Geolandar series for the domestic market.
Yokohama India has introduced mud-terrain tyres M/T in its Geolandar series for the domestic market. According to the company y, the specially designed for off-roading Geolandar M/T+ is equipped to deflect lateral impacts during extreme conditions.
These high-performance mud-terrain tyres are currently available in two sizes: 31X10.50R15 and 33X12.50R15. The Geolandar M/T+ has new dual protection bars to enhance cut and puncture resistance while the stepped central groove enhances surface grip.
According to Takeshi Fujino, MD, Yokohama India, “Off-roading is increasingly becoming popular as a new weekend adventure sport among young professionals and high net worth individuals. The Geolandar M/T+ has been built with many interesting features that makes it the best companion to do off-roading with.” He added that the M/T’s twin cut groove design will enhance traction for better overall control while also enhancing surface grip.
Yokohama India recently inaugurated its first manufacturing unit in India. The Rs 300-plus crore unit at Bahadurgarh will manufacture the Yokohama Earth-1 tyres.
Globally, Yokohama Tyres is in both the OE and replacement market and is supplier to leading carmakers like Audi, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Porsche, Suzuki and Toyota.
Yokohama has expanded its ‘Geolandar’ series by adding new Mud-Terrain (M/T+) tyres designed especially for off-roading. The Geolandar M/T+ are equipped to perform well in extreme off-roading conditions.
These Mud Terrain tyres are currently available in two sizes, 31X10.50R15 and 33X12.50R15. The tyres also get new dual protection bars added to the design to enhance cut and puncture resistance.
On the launch, Takeshi Fujino, managing director, Yokohama India said: “The Geolandar M/T+ has been built with many interesting features that makes it the best companion to do off-roading with.” He added that the M/T’s twin cut groove design will enhance traction for better overall control while also enhancing surface grip.
Yokohama India has recently inaugurated its first manufacturing unit in India with an overall investment of over Rs 300 crore. At this unit, the company will manufacture its Yokohama Earth-1 tyres.
