Yamaha launches YZF-R15 S at Rs 1.14 lakh in India
Following demand from customers in India, Yamaha Motor has launched a new single-seat variant of its flagship YZF–R15.
Following demand from customers in India, Yamaha Motor has launched a new single-seat variant of its flagship YZF–R15. While the split seat V2.0 version will continue to be sold, the new variant dubbed YSF-R15 S is now available at Rs 114,741 (ex-showroom Delhi) in three colour options – white, red and green.
When the YZF-R15 was introduced in India, it found ready takers thanks to it being the first lightweight sports motorcycle in the country. In September 2011, Yamaha updated the entrant in the segment, and christened it the YZF-R15 V2.0 – a sportier version of the one it replaced, with an updated ECU and drivetrain.
Commenting on the new variant, Roy Kurian, vice-president (Sales & Marketing), Yamaha Motor India Sales, said: “The Yamaha R15 is a pure sportsbike designed for racing enthusiasts. However, our research showed that a particular customer segment desired a single seat version as it is more convenient for the pillion rider.”
The YZF-R series features a comprehensive line-up, beginning with the YZF-R1 (998cc) super-sports flagship model, followed by the recently launched YZF R3, YZF-R6 (599cc), YZF-R25 (249cc), YZF-R15 (150cc), and YZF-R125 (125cc).
